Anne Hathaway recently opened up about not forming a sequel to the comedy drama, ‘The Devil Wears Prada‘.
There’s no doubt that Anne Hathaway was recognized globally for her portrayal of Andrea Sachs in the 20th Century Studios comedy drama, The Devil Wears Prada, based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel with same name. Film was released in 2006. Comedy-drama flick directed by David Frankel, made on a budget of $40 million, grossed around $326 million at the box office. Apart from Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci were also stars in the film.
For some time now, the audience has been waiting for the sequel of The Devil Wears Prada. Although at the time of 2006, there were very few franchises that made a film, and later made its sequel. But now the times have changed, if an original feature performs well at the box office, the audience is forced to expect a sequel even if they don’t want to.
In this context, when Anne Hathaway was asked about the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada on ABC talk show, The View’s podcast, the actress said that, “I don’t know if there can be a sequel. I just think that movie was in a different era. Now everything’s gone so digital and that movie is centered around the concept of producing a physical thing and it’s just, it’s just very different.”
Also, the actress threw light on the aspect of what her co-stars would be doing if the sequel happens today.
She said that, “It is tempting to think about Andy and Emily needing to get Miranda her coffee and she’s somewhere in Europe. And then along the way they pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who’s at a restaurant. It’s tempting but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
Later, actress also suggested that if the studio wanted to make the sequel, they would have to find new people for the project. But at present it does not seem that the sequel will happen, but it is known whether it will happen in the coming time.
Anne Hathaway previously seen in Focus Features’ drama flick, Armageddon Time opposite Oscar winner actor, Anthony Hopkins. She will next seen in psychological thriller, Mothers’ Instinct‘ remake. Later, she will next seen in ‘The Idea Of You’ from Amazon.
