Army of the Dead Review: Is There Any Sequel To Zack Snyder's Zombie-Heist Film?

Plot

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead film is based on zombie outbreak that took place in Las Vegas. The film opens with a military convoy carrying a shipment from Army Area 51. But at some distance, an accident happens with a couple’s car. The accident causes an alpha zombie to be freed, who kills all the soldiers in a pinch of time that’s turns them into zombies. Which later infected a very large population in Las Vegas. The government closes the infected area by building a large wall of containers.

Scott Ward ( Dave Bautista ) is given a deal by Bly Tanaka ( Hiroyuki Sanada ), under which Scott has to steal 200 million dollars from the infected area of Las Vegas, in return Scott will get 50 million. Scott regrets his past as he kills his infected wife in front of his daughter Kate Ward, which leads her daughter away from him. Ward accepts Tanaka’s deal for his better future. Ward forms a team that will join him in stealing money in Las Vegas. Nuke will be dropped on zombie infected area by government order in 4 days. So Ward and his team have just 96 hours to enter and leave.

Tanaka has no problem with money, he is a casino owner. He sends one of his men Martin along with Ward’s team, who can keep an eye on them. Because something else is going on in Tanaka’s mind. Later, we understand Tanaka’s hideous game, why does he not care about money?

Do they manage to get money from Las Vegas? Do they survive from the zombies? This is the story of the film.

Review

Zack Snyder has written the screenplay of the film along with directing and producing the film Army of the Dead. As far as the story of the film is concerned, it is predictable. But Zack Snyder has done a new experiment about zombies, he is capable.

There is some loophole in the story of the film, but due to the screenplay, we can ignore them. The screenplay of the film is so powerful that it makes the eyes feel. Army of the Dead deviates from its direction at many places in the way of development of the character. If Geeta’s ( Huma Qureshi ) character was not in the film, work would have been done. Zack Snyder made the first colorful film out of the dark theme. The first 15 minutes of the film and 45 minutes of the last is awesome. The film also has a lot of action and a lot of bloodshed. A little emotional aspect will also be seen in the film. Had the film’s runtime been reduced by 30 minutes, the Army of the Dead would have been the best zombie film.

Watch It Or Skip It?

If you like a film that has a slight flaw in the story, but the screenplay and action are great, then you should watch Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead. But due to being abused and R-rated in the film, the film is for 18+.

Army of Thieves

Zack Snyder is expanding the Universe of Army of the Dead film. Going forward, we will get to see two more prequels in this universe right now. These prequels are Army of Thieves and animated series Army of the Dead: Las Vegas. Zack Snyder has confirmed that Army of Thieves will be a ‘insane’ prequel. Army of Thieves film is still in post production for Netflix.

Matthias Schweighöfer is returning from the Army of the Dead in the Army of Thieves. Matthias Schweighöfer is also directing the film Army of Thieves to reprise his role Ludwig Dieter. Story of Army of Thieves has written by Zack Snyder and Shay Hatten. Shay Hatten is also write the screenplay for Army of Thieves. Matthias Schweighöfer, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder also prodcing the film with Dan Maag for Netflix.
