Bollywood’s famous singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69.
There was a wave of grief in the Bollywood industry on Wednesday when it came to know that famous singer and composer Bappi Lahiri is no more. The 69-year-old late singer was suffering from obstructive sleep apnea ( OSA ) and recurrent chest infection for a long time. Singer took his last breath in the hospital in Mumbai. Bappi Lahiri’s death is a big loss for the Bollywood industry.
Bappi Lahiri was getting treated for his illness for a long time. He was admitted to Criticare Hospital located in Juhu, Mumbai for the last almost a month. Singer was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, 15 February. A day after being discharged from the hospital, Bappi Lahiri was re-admitted due to sudden deteriorating health. His condition had become very critical due to which doctors could not save him. The last rites of the late singer will be performed on Thursday.
It is evident that last year, mild symptoms of Covid-19 were found in Singer, since then his health continued to deteriorate. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has paid tribute on the death of Bappi Lahiri. Along with this, other celebrities have also paid tribute to the late singer Bappi Lehiri on social media.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi writes, “Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Bollywood filmmaker Shekhar Kapur writes in tribute that, “When I was struggling to find my place in cinema, before I became a director. Bappi Lahiri was already a star composer. He composed some beautiful melodies for our film Toote Khilone, that are still remembered and sung today decades later #RIPBappiLahiri @AzmiShabana“
