Brendan Gleeson joins Joaquin Phoenix in DC’s ‘Joker 2’, officially titled Joker: Folie à Deux, for Warner Bros.
Warner Bros and DC’s, ambitious project Joker 2 has started in full swing. In this context, Braveheart actor, Brendan Gleeson has joined Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in the Joker’s sequel. Todd Phillips is also returning to direct the sequel from 2019’s original flick. Phillips co-wrote the screenplay with original writer, Scott Silver. Production of the film is expected to start in December.
Also with speculation about the return of Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond for a sequel from the original film, talks with the actress are ongoing.
Story details of the film are not yet known but it is believed that Sequel will be set in Arkham Asylum, which is where the first film leaves off after Arthur Fleck has been sent there. Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix, who agreed for whopping $20 million for the sequel, will return to reprise his character Arthur Fleck in the film. It is also believed that Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn, who falls in love with her patient Arthur Fleck aka Joker in Arkham Asylum in the pic. It is not yet known what role Brendan Gleeson will play in Joker 2.
Obviously, 2019’s Joker was emerged as a big blockbuster and set new dimensions at the box office. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker got the audience so excited that it has overtaken Deadpool to become the highest-grossing film in the R-rated category. The film crossed $1.074 billion mark at the box office with a budget of $55 million. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker rocked all the awards ceremony and won more than 20 awards at various award ceremonies, including two Academy Awards.
When Will Joker 2 Release?
Warner Bros. and DC’s Joker 2 is schedule to release in theatres on October 4, 2024.
In addition to Braveheart, Brendan Gleeson is best known for playing Alastor Moody in Warner Bros.’s Harry Potter films. He previously seen alongside Denzel Washington in The Tragedy of Macbeth. Brendan Gleeson will next seen in Searchlight Pictures‘ comedy-drama, The Banshees of Inisherin, which is set to premiere on Venice Film Festival on September 5 and will release in theatres on October 21, 2022. Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan are also star in the film.
