‘Heaven: To The Land Of Happiness’ Is All Set To Open At Busan Film Festival

South Korean screenwriter and director Im Sang-soo’s Heaven: To The Land of Happiness will open at the Busan International Film Festival in October, which will run from 6 to 15 October, 2021.

South Korean film Heaven: To The Land of Happiness, directed by Im Sang-soo, will debut next month at the Busan International Film Festival in October. Although the film was earlier selected for the 74th edition of the Cannes Festival, the premiere was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But now this drama film is ready to premiere on its soil, South Korea. Film’s International rights sales are overseeing by independent agency Finecut.

Heaven: To The Land of Happiness Film Plot

Heaven: To The Land of Happiness The story of the film will depict a road trip, which will focus on two men. They are both escaped prisoners who accidentally end up with a huge sum of money. They go on a journey to live happily ever after.

Although previously reported by Korean media, the Movie was initially conceived as a remake of the German drama “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”. But Im Sang-soo deviated from the original, leaving the 1997 Thomas Jahn-directed title as an inspiration rather than the source material.

Heaven: To The Land of Happiness film stars Choi Min-sik, Park Hae-il, and Oscar winning actress Youn Yuh-jung. Apparently Youn Yuh-jung won an Oscar this year in the supporting role category for Minari. Choi Min-sik was previously seen in a negative role in Scarlett Johnson’s Lucy ( 2014 ). Obviously he is a big name in the South Korean film industry.

Im Sang-soo is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. He is so adept at screenwriting and directing that he has been invited twice to compete for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for The Housemaid in 2010 and The Taste of Money in 2012.
