Warner Bros is now in the mood to start work on the sequel to their original film, I Am Legend. Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ star Michael B. Jordan will be sharing screen space with actor Will Smith for the first time. Along with starring together, the two actors will also produce the project. Akiva Goldsman, Oscar-winning writer for Russell Crowe’s A Beautiful Mind, has been recalled from the original film to write the sequel. It is not yet clear whether Francis Lawrence will return for the sequel as director. Also, nothing is known about the plot of the sequel yet.

‘I Am Legend’ sequel will also produced by Elizabeth Raposo along with Michael B. Jordan under their banner Outlier Society banner. As well as Will Smith is also producing with Jon Mone under their Westbrook Studio. Also Weed Road Pictures’ Akiva Goldsman and Greg Lessans will produce the upcoming sequel for Warner Bros. James Lassiter will serve as executive producer.

The original film, starring Will Smith and Alice Braga released in 2007 and was a huge hit at the box office. The film did a business of around 585 million worldwide with a budget of 150 million. I Am Legend is based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name.

Will Smith, excited for I Am Legend, posted a picture from the film on his social media account Instagram. Although the actor has not written anything in the caption.

Will Smith’s previous release is King Richard which has been nominated for the Academy Award in the Best Picture category. Along with this, Will Smith has also received a nomination in the Best Actor in Leading Role category.

Will Smith will next seen in AppleEmancipation, which is being directed by Antoine Fuqua.

Apart from I Am Legend sequel, Michael B. Jordan will next seen in ‘Creed III’. Through Creed III, Michael B. Jordan is stepping into the field of direction for the first time. The film also stars Jonathan Majors alongside Michael B. Jordan.
