Idris Elba is one of the few actors who could be the next James Bond.
Famous British fiction character, James Bond is looking for his next successor and Idris Elba is one of the few actors to play the character created by Ian Fleming on the big screen. It is evident that currently Idris Elba’s name is counted among the successful actors of the industry, who have been giving one hit film after another for more than a decade. Also the name of the actor comes in those actors who can replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. There’s no doubt that the actor’s personality does justice to the iconic character and makes him the next future contender for British spy by Ian Fleming.
When Idris Elba, buoyed by the success of his recent release Three Thousand Years of Longing, was asked about his next James Bond role, the actor replied with a candid reply. In a recent podcast with The Shop, the ‘Beast’ actor says, “I’m not gonna lie, every corner of the world I go…and I’m talking about different cultures… they always go- ‘Bond!'”
He continues, “Playing Bond is not a goal for my career. I don’t think that, you know, playing Bond will satisfy some of my personal goals. But, It will definitely satisfy the will of a nation. And I feel it is beyond me at this junction. It’s beyond me. You know, it’s not a question of, ‘Should I?’, ‘Do I’, ‘Will I?’, it is what the will of the nation dictates sometimes”.
Idris Elba further says that, “I’m not that guy, but in everyone’s world I might be. And that-job done. Because the truth is, you know, a lot of people are really seeing Idris playing Bond as the ‘alternative Bond’. And as long as that alternative is existing, that’s great for the growth of f*cking casting.”
During the podcast, actor Idris Elba made it clear that he is interested in playing the next James Bond. But, the age of the actor comes in the way of getting the iconic role. Obviously Idris is currently 50 years old. It’s obvious that James Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has clarified a while back that the next installment of 007 will arrive no earlier than two years from now. In such a situation, Idris Elba as well as his fans may get hurt as the studio will look for the next bond keeping in mind at least 5 films. Apparently, Daniel Craig joined the franchise at Casino Royale in 2007 at the age of 39. And in 2021 gave an emotional farewell in ‘No Time To Die’.
Apart from Idris Elba, there are other actors who may be Daniel Craig’s replacement for Bond, including Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy and Regé-Jean Page. All these actors have proved themselves well in the recent times.
Idris Elba will next seen opposite Andy Serkis in Netflix’s ‘Luther’ Film.
