Marvel Studios is in talks with Matt Shakman for helm Fantastic Four following after exit of Jon Watts as director.
Upcoming Fantastic Four is one of the most important projects for Marvel Studios as the film will have a direct connection to the two big events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. In such a situation, the studio will not take any risk for Fantastic Four.
In this context, Marvel is turning to the director, who started Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 with the Disney+ show, WandaVision. Yes, series director Matt Shakman may direct Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four, for which talks are on with him. It is believed that Matt Shakman may direct the film for the studio as the director most recently backed out of Paramount’s ‘Star Trek 4’. Paramount added Shakman as a director last year in July 2021 for the fourth installment of Star Trek Untitled movie.
However, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts was supposed to direct Fantastic Four for Marvel. But later, Watts left the project in April, citing taking a break from films due to being too busy.
It is clear that Matt Shakman has become one of the favorite director for Marvel. WandaVision directed by him was well received by the audience and the series managed to win an Emmy Award.
However, after the exit of Jon Watts, Marvel also made contact with Love and Monsters director Michael Matthews and Logan Lucky’s Reid Carolin.
