Marvel loses Blade director Bassam Tariq just before filming.
Bassam Tariq will no longer direct Marvel’s upcoming Blade reboot. This news has come out when the film was completely ready for filming. However, the official reason for Bassam Tariq leaving Marvel’s Blade is yet to be confirmed. But at the same time, the studio has also confirmed that Bassam will continue his services as an executive producer of the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter,Marvel Studio issued a statement saying that, “Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam in no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”
Along with this, the reaction of director Bassam Tariq has also come to the fore. He said that, “Its been an honor working with the wonderful folks at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.”
After stepping back from Marvel’s Blade as a director, Bassam also shared the news with fans, writing on his Instagram post that, “It’s been a minute. Blade’s been a beautiful ride. At this moment, I’m filled with love and gratitude towards the folks at Marvel as well the incredible crew and cast we assembled.
“I’m eager to support and see how the next director builds on the foundation we’ve set. I’ll now be joining the project as an EP as I move on to what’s next,”, he adds.
In such a situation, leaving the film in the middle of the director can definitely cause delay in production. Apparently the filming of the Blade reboot was to begin in November. In such a situation, the search for a new director will definitely cause delay in the release of the film. Obviously, any new director who comes will take time to get used to the script.
However, Marvel’s Blade Reboot was confirmed with Mahershala Ali in title role during San Diego Comic-Con 2019. The film also stars Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre opposite Mahershala Ali. It is not yet known what roles Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre will play in the film. Apparently, Mahershala Ali’s voice was teased in the post credits scene of 2021’s ‘Eternals’. HBO’s Watchmen series writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour has penned the script for the film.
Blade was introduced to Marvel Comics Books in 1973 by writer Marv Wolfman in The Tomb of Dracula No.10. Marvel brought the comic book character to the film with Blade in 1998 with actor Wesley Snipes in the title role. Though, Only 3 parts of the Blade film series were made that time. Wesley Snipes was heavily swindled as a Blade.

Marvel has set Blade’s release date for November 3, 2023 for now.
