‘Mortal Kombat’ Sequel In Works At Warner Bros

‘Mortal Kombat’ sequel in the works at Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema with Marvel and Disney’s series ‘Moon Knight’ screen-writer, Jeremy Slater.

Warner Bros and New Line Cinema are going to expand ‘Mortal Kombat’ Universe. Ever since James Wan took over the task of rebooting Mortal Kombat’s universe, it’s been a sight to behold. In view of the success of the first part, it was considered to be a sequel. In this context, a sequel to Mortal Kombat has been confirmed. Original feature was directed by Simon McQuiod. Whether he will return to direct the sequel is also not known yet. Jermey Slater of Marvel and Disney’s series ‘Moon Knight’ has been called on to write the screenplay for the sequel. Jeremy Slater is writing and directing the film Thread for Sony Screen Gems. Along with this, he is also working on Netflix’s Uprising, which will be directed by Travis Knight. Apparently Jeremy has also developed series like The Umbrella Academy for Netflix.

What will be the story of the sequel for the time being is not yet known. Also who will return from the original film in the sequel and no new cast has been finalized yet.

The original film starred Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Tadanabu Asano, Josh Lawson and Mehcad Brooks. The film was released on HBO Max and Theaters on 23 April last year. Mortal Kombat did business of $83.6 million worldwide at the box office with a budget of $55 million. If there was no Covid crisis, then surely these figures would have increased. The story was inspired by the popular video game Mortal Kombat. This new reboot version was very much liked by the audience. Be it bloodshed or action, Mortal Kombat was a success.
