Now You See Me 3 is in early development at Lionsgate, with Venom director Ruben Fleischer roped in to direct the film. Seth Grahame-Smith, best known for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and The Lego Batman Movie has been signed to write the screenplay for the upcoming heist drama feature. Although, initially Oscar nominee Eric Warren Singer was associated with the project as a screenplay writer. Now You See Me 3 will be produced by Bobby Cohen and Secret Hideout’s Alex Kurtzman. Chisom Ude and Meredith Wieck are overseeing the project for Lionsgate Studio.

Ruben Fleischer is excited to direct the next installment of the Now You See Me franchise. According to Deadline, Ruben said in a statement that, “There are three things in this world I absolutely love… Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and magic. To have the chance to work with these two talented actors, as well as rest of the incredible cast of the Now You See Me movies is a dream come true. I am a lifelong fan of heist movies – I love getting drawn in by the twists and the mystery where nothing is what it seems. And that’s even more true when the thieves are magicians – the opportunities are endless.  Eric was able to unlock a fresh and exciting way into a new movie and fun new characters, so I’m excited to dig in even further.”

Obviously, both the released films of the Now You See Me franchise were box office hits. Worldwide box office collections of both the films were $351 million and $334 million respectively. The first installment of 2013 starred Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine and Isla Fisher in the lead roles. Daniel Radcliffe and Lizzy Caplan were joined in the second installment.

What will be the story of Now You See Me 3 is not yet known. It will be interesting to see if Daniel Radcliffe’s Walter will come out of jail ?, or will he once again be trouble for Mark Ruffalo’s Dylan Rhodes’ Four Horsemen.

Ruben Fleischer has recently delivered hits like Uncharted for Sony with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. Video game adaptation Uncharted, made on a budget of $120 million, has grossed over $400 million worldwide at the box office. Earlier, Ruben had directed Sony’s Marvel pic Venom with Tom Hardy which did more than $850 million worldwide at the box office.
