Sony Pictures has again delayed the release of Jared Leto starrer Morbius due to the rising Covid-19 cases.
Fans are once again disappointed, with the release of Spider-Man’s spin-off Morbius being delayed once again. It is clear that the new variant omicron of Covid-19 is causing havoc all over the world. In such a situation, the worst situation is in the United States where this new variant of the deadly Covid-19 virus omicron is spreading its feet. It seems that once again the period of reshuffle in the release of films has come. Mobius starring Jared Leto is the latest example.
Morbius Plot
The story of the upcoming superhero feature follows Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius, who is diagnosed with a rare blood disease. In this context he tries to cure by using bat DNA for the treatment. But in the process he becomes a ‘Vampire’.
Apart from Jared Leto, the superhero flick also stars Adria Arjona, Tyrese Gibson, Michael Keaton, Matt Smith and Jared Harris.
The trailer, which was released in November, clearly shows that Sony is creating a separate Spider-man universe beyond Marvel. ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s post credits scene puts a firm seal on it.
Sony Picture’s recent release was ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, based on the Marvel Comics book. The performance of Sony’s Tom Holland-starrer Spider-Man: No Way Home in this pandemic environment is commendable. It has become the first film to cross the $1 billion mark worldwide in pandemic. The film has now grossed $1.37 billion worldwide at the box office till now.
Release Date
If there was no Covid-19 crisis for the last 2 years, we would have got to see Morbius in July of 2020. Sony has now moved the release of Morbius from January 28 to Easter. Now, the super-hero flick is set to hit theaters on April 1, 2022.
