As Warner Bros.’s upcoming supernatural horror flick The Nun 2 hits productions in France, James Wan shared an image of the first set on social media.
Filming for The Conjuring Universe’s much-awaited prequel The Nun 2 has begun in France, producer James Wan shared the first image from the set with fans on social media. The Nun sequel is directed by Michael Chaves, this time from The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, although the original installment was helmed by Corin Hardy.
Sharing the post on his social media account Instagram, James Wan writes that, “Photography has commenced on THE NUN 2 in France! With @michaelchaves performing the exorcism (directing) on this one.”
Following the success of The Nun, producer Peter Safran announced in April 2019 that a sequel was in development. Akela Cooper of Malignant is associated with the project as a screenwriter. Peter Safran and James Wan are serving as producers for Warner Bros. Gary Dauberman and Michael Clear are serving as executive producers.
The story of The Nun 2 is not yet known but it is believed that the sequel will set in 1956 that follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force Valak, the Nun. Taissa Farmiga is returning to reprise her role as Sister Irene. While Bonnie Aarons is also returning to her role as Demon Nun. The Invisible Man‘s Storm Reid will also be seen in a key role in the horror flick.
Clearly, the supernatural horror franchise The Conjuring has been a good deal for Warner Bros since its inception. So far eight films made in this universe have earned spectacular at the box office. The combined box office collection of all the eight films released so far is $2.1 billion, while their budget was about $178 million.

Warner Bros’ The Nun 2 is schedule to release in theatres on September 8, 2023.
