HBO's House of the Dragon is in full swing for a spectacular season finale.

The death of King Viserys in the ninth episode of House of the Dragon has invited an upcoming bloody conflict for Iron Throne.

Queen Alicent installed her son Aegon as the heir to the Iron Throne, citing the king's dying wish in council.

Allies who were against Aegon becoming king  were all executed.

Aegon is crowned at the end of episode 9 of House of the Dragon by hiding the news of the death of her father, King Viserys, from Princess Rhaenyra.

Although Princess Rhaenyra was chosen by King Viserys as the heir to the Iron Throne in the first episode.

So what, now Princess Rhaenyra will challenge Aegon for the Iron Throne to become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms?

According to the novels by George R. R. Martin, Princess Rhaenyra together with her allies invade King's Landing and capture the Iron Throne with Prince Daemon.

Aegon Targaryen manages to escape from King's Landing during the battle.

Now that Princess Rhaenyra is ruling King's Landing with her husband Daemon, Aegon takes advantage of the opportunity to defeat Baela Targaryen and capture Dragonstone.

When Rhaenyra goes there to retrieve the captured Dragonstone, Aegon takes her captive and feeds it to his dragon.

After killing Rhaenyra, Aegon returns to King's Landing once again and reigns.

Worth noting that Rhaenyra only sits on the Iron Throne in King's Landing for only six months.

The story of House of the Dragon doesn't just end there, the bloody game for the Iron Throne continues, with Rhaenyra's son still alive, of course.

House of the Dragon season finale will takes place on October 23, 2022 on HBO.
