Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone is back in Disney’ ‘Cruella 2‘ for more dramatic fashion and dastardly deeds.
Disney’s Cruella film was released at the end of May this year, in which the main title role was played by Oscar winning actress Emma Stone. The film was highly praised by the critics and the audience. Due to this, in early June it officially confirmed ‘Cruella’ Sequel Is In Works At Disney Studio!.
But at that time it was not announced that Emma Stone would return again. At that time only original director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara were confirmed with the announcement of Sequel. Even at that time there were speculations that Emma would return for the sequel. But now it’s officially announced that Emma Stone is returning to reprise her role as Cruella de Vil in Cruella 2. Now in this context Disney and Emma Stone have signed a deal for the sequel.
According to Variety, Patrick Whitesell, executive chairman of Endeavor’s entertainment and media agency, has said that, “While the media landscape has been disrupted in a meaningful way for all distributors, their creative partners cannot be left on the sidelines to carry a disproportionate amount of the downside without the potential for upside.” He continues, “This agreement demonstrates that there can be an equitable path forward that protects artists and aligns studios’ interests with talent. We are proud to work alongside Emma and Disney, and appreciate the studio’s willingness to recognize her contributions as a creative partner. We are hopeful that this will open the door for more members of the creative community to participate in the success of new platforms.”
Apparently the Cruella film has so far earned more than $221 million worldwide. In which $85 million is the domestic box office collection. However, Cruella was released on theaters as well as on Disney’s streaming platform Disney+.
In addition to the original film Emma Stone, also featuring stars Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Mark Strong, John McCrea and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
