Mel Gibson Joins ‘John Wick’ Origin Series, ‘The Continental’ For Starz & Lionsgate

Mel Gibson is the first actor to be cast in John Wick’s original series, ‘The Continental’.

Long ago, The Continental T.V series was announced to explore the universe of ‘John Wick’ after the seeing the success of John Wick: Chapter 2 in June 2017. Now it seems that the work on the TV series has started fast. In this context, the casting for the series has already started, guess what, who is the first to join the project? Mel Gibson.

Keanu Reeves ‘ John Wick film series has ruled the hearts of fans for the past decade. The films of the John Wick franchise have attracted the attention of audiences of almost all ages, whether it is the action of the film or the underground world of assassins, who have their own strict rules. Since then, the fans are eager to know this universe even more closely, what is the story behind the Continental Hotel? Who made its rules and why? We all know that Continental comes under the High Table, but through the series it will be known, how the High Table was formed?

Obviously, the first three films of the John Wick franchise have done tremendous business at the box office. All three films have done business of around $600 million worldwide with a budget of $145 million.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ is currently in production, shooting for which is going on in Germany, France and Japan apart from America. John Wick: Chapter is schedule to release on May 27, 2022.

‘The Continental’ Series Plot

Continental series story will follow Young Winston Scott, who currently owns the New York Continental Hotel as per on going film series. The story of the series is set in the 1970s, where Winston is dragged into a New York hell-scape to confront his past. The story will shed light on the events of how Winston established his authority over the Continental Hotel in New York, which later became a den for criminals. Ian McShane has portrays the character of Winston Scott in the film series. It is not yet known who will play Young Winston in the series. But in the series Mel Gibson will play a character named Cormac.

The Continental will be a limited TV series with 3 episodes of 90 minutes each. The series will be produced for Starz by Lionsgate Televisions. Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward are serving as executive producers as well as writers of the series. Basil Iwanyk of Thunder Road Pictures, Erica Lee, Chad Stahelski, Kolstad, David Leitch, Shawn Simmons, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are also serving as executive producers.
