Nafessa Williams to star in late American iconic singer Whitney Elizabeth Houston Biopic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody‘.
Nafessa Williams, who appeared in 2019’s Black & Blue, has been cast to play Robyn Crawford in late legendary American singer Whitney Houston biopic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. However, before this, actress Moses Ingram of Netflix’s super-hit series The Queen’s Gambit was to play this character. But later the actress dropped out of the film due to some reason, due to which Nafessa got this role.
In addition to Nafessa, the musical biopic also stars Clarke Petters and Tamara Tunie, who will play John Houston and Cissy Houston. But, in the film stars Naomi Ackie as Whitney Elizabeth Houston in the lead role. Ashton Sanders and Stanley Tucci are also stars in upcoming musical feature. Ashton Sanders will portray Bobby Brown.
Kasi Lemmons will direct the musical biopic, who has previously directed the 2019 biographical drama, Harriet. Anthony McCarten ( Bohemian Rhapsody )will write the screenplay and also producing with his Muse of Fire Productions along with Pat Houston on behalf of the Houston Estate with Clive Davis among others. Stella Meghie ( The Photograph ) will serve as executive producer.

Who Is Nafessa Williams ?
Actress best known for 2019’s Black & Blue, starring Tyrese Gibson ( ‘F9: The Fast Saga ), Frank Grillo ( No Man’s Land ) and Naomie Harris ( ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ ). Apart from Black & Blue, Nafessa has also appeared in HBO‘s His Dark Materials series. Nafessa Williams was also recently seen in the 4th season of Netflix’s Black Lightning.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody will follow Whitney Houston, one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than 200 million records sold worldwide. Houston is also one of the most respected artists in history. Known for her powerful and soulful vocals, she has influenced many other singers. She has also produced the film as well, like1997’s Cinderella. Saving All My Love for You and Where Do Broken Hearts Go were his tracks that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the 90s.
While every American legend is familiar with singer Whitney Houston, her upcoming biopic will also reveal things that a large section of people are unaware of. What the late singer has achieved in his life span of 48 years is not for everyone.

Sony and TriStar Pictures will release the Whitney Houston biopic. The release date of I Wanna Dance With Somebody is set for December 23, 2022.
