Joaquin Phoenix’s first look from the set of Warner Bros’ upcoming project Joker 2 that exists in the DC’s parallel universe, has dropped online.
Fans’ curiosity must have peaked when they got the first look at Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck from the Joker 2. Yes, the filming for sequel, which is officially titled Joker: Folie à Deux has begun. In this context, director Todd Phillips has unveiled the first look of actor Joaquin Phoenix on social media from film’s set. Todd Phillips teasingly writes in the caption of the Instagram post that, “Day 1. Our boy. #joker“
The details of the film’s story are not yet known, but it is believed that the sequel will be set in Arkham Asylum, where the original film ends after Arthur Fleck is sent there. Lady Gaga is playing Harley Quinn in the film– who falls in love with her patient Arthur Fleck aka Joker in Arkham Asylum. While Jacob Lofland, he is playing an inmate at the Arkham Asylum who develops a relationship with Arthur Fleck and as well as Zazie Beetz is returning to reprise her role as Sophie Dumond. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener in undisclosed roles.
In the first look, Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck appears to be in Arkham Asylum where he’s getting shaved. It appears that his hands are tied. It is believed that Joker 2 will be made in a different tone from the original film, it will probably be musical. Plus, Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the title role in the sequel, will once again be vying for the top award at the Oscars.
Original Joker was arguably the most profitable project for Warner Bros. in 2019, as the film crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office on a budget of just $55 million. Also, the film received 11 nominations in different categories at the 92nd edition of the Academy Awards, in which it managed to win Oscar awards such as Best Actor and Best Original Score.
